Breast reconstruction boosts self-esteem
Plastic surgery such as breast reconstruction is seen in a positive light especially with patients fighting cancer
A recent study published in Cancer magazine revealed that breast reconstruction after a mastectomy greatly supports the female patient’s psychology and increases self-esteem.

51 women responded to a questionnaire before surgery for breast reconstruction, and for 3 weeks and 3 months after reconstruction. According to the researchers of the Toronto University and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York) the post-operative benefits were much more than a simply aesthetic improvement.

The majority of patients reported a remarkable boost in their psychology after surgery. As a result, most of the patients had a better social and working life. In addition they improved their home-life, their bonds with their children and their sex life.
