Skin: A precious organ
Have you ever thought of the skin as being the largest organ in the human body? In addition to that, it also conducts multiple functions
The skin is the biggest organ of the human body covering an area of 1.5 to 2 square meters and weighing 10-12 kilos. It consists of 70% water, 25% protein and 5% fat and minerals. Its main characteristics are that it is flexible, waterproof and has the ability to regenerate itself.

The structure of the skin consists of the following layers:
  1. The surface of the skin or the epidermis which protects against injuries, keeps moisture in and regulates the passage of substances.
  2. The dermis or underlying main part of the skin which nourishes and supports the skin. This layer is made up of fibroblast cells that create collagen and elastic fibres that give structural stability, elasticity, firmness, durability and volume.
  3. Underneath the main layer of skin there is fatty tissue where all the nutrients are stored.
